Hello, thanks for coming by!

I'm a new mum with no idea what I'm doing. This is unusual for me. In life I have always been one who studies, prepares and gets organised. I read the baby books. In fact, upon getting those glorious two blue lines, I instantly bought a 400 page textbook on pregnancy.

But no amount of reading prepared me for what was in store, and no amount of reading could have. Having a baby and becoming a mum has brought challenges and joy that no words could have prepared me for.

I had a particularly challenging start to motherhood. I experienced a traumatic birth, followed by struggles with breastfeeding and both me and my baby being unwell. I struggled with mum guilt that I had not been able to give birth and breastfeed adequately. Mum's are meant to just do all that, right?

During my challenging first month's, I hit the internet to be met with social media posts from perfect looking mums, read scaremongering articles about what I should and shouldn't be doing, and don't even get me started on the pressure from the breastfeeding brigade. Looking back at it all, I can say what a load of pish! It is all just pressure. It made me feel like I wasn't good enough. I felt alone.

I have been inspired to write this blog and share my ongoing experiences as a new mum, because I want other mums to know you are not alone. You are good enough. You're actually amazing! And this isn't just for mums. It's for any new parent - dads, grandparents, carers and all.

If you're looking for a 'parenting expert' (as I have actually seen in a bio of a mummy blog) I am not your gal. I simply want to share my experiences, opinions and lessons I learn along the way. There might be useful advice occasionally, but ultimately it is up to you to decide what's best.

I myself will remain anonymous. This little cartoon me is much more cute than the real unwashed, sick smelling and exhausted version. I will also change certain details to avoid identification of anyone else mentioned in my posts. I would like to stress I will never give medical advice. And whilst I am all about supporting and empowering new mums, health and safety for mum and baby is priority. I am firmly pro-science, pro-vaccination.

One last thing to mention - I am sleep deprived. So if their are mistakes with my spelling then your going to have to let me off.

I'm excited to share the good, bad, happy and sad, and hopefully give you a few laughs along the way.

I am the learner mum. We are all learner mum's.
